Why else would anyone blog if not to "validate their existence and foist their views on the world"?

Do I have a pretty good understanding of why most of you bloggers are out there blogging away? And of course there are the people who say they do it because they enjoy the writing. Which I can certainly identify with. Are there other reasons some of you out there are blogging, other than stated above? Some have said they use it as an alternative to email for keeping in touch with family. Let me see, I am trying to remember if there were other reasons stated in the replies, so far all I have done is read them, haven't yet begun the massive task of trying to put the reasons down in diff. columns and the number of replies that go with each one... I don't know how long I will conduct the study for yet... I am learning fast that not all blog sites are created equal. This site seems to have more of a "handle" on what blogging is really all about, the collective consciousness rather than just an outlet for each individual. This site is a lot more interactive than all of the other blogging sites I have been trying out. It really does seem to be an online community. Which is the bigger part,to me, of the appeal of blogging. Do I have that figured out correctly?

I would guess that the community feeling here at JU is a huge part of the draw. I can certainly say that the reasons I blog are 1 part entertainment to 2 parts existential angst. I don't know how many JU's will really like the term "foist", as those who read the blogs are willing participants! I hope you'l share the results of your blogging study with us.
